GATESVILLE — The Brownwood High tennis team rebounded from a slow start in doubles play to rally past the Robinson Rockets, 11-8, Tuesday afternoon, evening its season record at 5-5 in the process.
Victories for the Lions belonged to the doubles teams of Brian Bowen and Mark Johnson (8-3 over Eric Bortz and Nikki Bright) and Nathan Ross and Bennie Salazar (8-2 over Dustin Burnside and Jessie Trigg).
Collecting singles wins for the Lions were Bowen (6-0, 6-1 over Bright), Noan Marlin (6-3, 6-3 over Bortz), Joaquin Alonzo (6-3, 3-6, 10-7 over Kerry Carriveau), Salazar (6-2, 6-3 over Hunter Goolsby) and Aaron Pulley (6-0, 6-1 over Burnside).
For the Lady Lions, the team of Karina Garcia and Lindsey Williams picked up the only doubles win (8-1 over Brooke Welch and Natalie Cox).
Singles victories for the Lady Lions belonged to Delanie Bennett (7-6 [7-5], 6-1 over McKenna Kramer), Williams (6-2, 6-4 over Savannah Hill-Johnson) and Bailey Bishop (6-1, 6-2 over Cox).
Brownwood will return to action on Oct. 20 against Big Spring in Abilene.
