BANGS — Playing with a chance to move into a tie atop the District 6-2A standings with No. 22 Grape Creek, the Bangs Lady Dragons came up on the short end of a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 decision to the Lady Eagles Tuesday.

Kinsie Ward and Rikki Loman led Bangs (11-11, 2-2) with nine kills each followed by five from Kady Kyle and four from Jaylee Roberts.

Cheyenne Lovelady dished out 24 assists while Roberts, Kylie Allen and Kassidy Adams served two aces each.

On defense, Allen notched 17 digs followed by Ward with 11, Lovelady with eight, Roberts with seven and Adams with five.

Lovelady, Loman and Kyle tallied one block apiece.

“We played so hard but Grape Creek was the better team tonight,” said Bangs head coach Colleen Westfall. “The fans, the girls and I know this was a battle. The girls held on to the rope tighter than they ever have tonight. Our goal of the win column fell short tonight, but we accomplished so much. The stats prove how determined we were.”

The Lady Dragons host Sonora at noon Saturday and visit Reagan County on Oct. 16 to close district.
