Early Independent School District was awarded three matching grants totaling $73,560 from Oncor's School Matching Grant Program. The district installed high-efficiency lighting and air cooling systems in the primary, middle and high schools.

The School Matching Grant Program was created to help schools save energy and money by implementing energy efficiency improvements. The new equipment will save more than 163,000 kilowatt-hours of energy annually, which is equal to providing electricity for 14 homes for one year, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations.

“Oncor's School Matching Grant program was pivotal in completing these projects,” said EISD superintendent Brett Koch. “Energy efficiency is key to a successful future and we're pleased to set a positive example in our community.”

“Schools are part of the fabric of the communities Oncor serves,” said Oncor area manager Ken Harriss. “Oncor is excited about this unique grant program that helps schools invest in energy efficiency improvements. We're proud of the accomplishments of Early ISD and pleased to present this grant check.”
