Graveside services for Omer Theodore Pointer, age 81, of Brownwood, will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Eastlawn Memorial Park, with Ruben Packer officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

He passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Abilene, Texas.

Omer was born on May 8, 1931, in Three Sands, Okla., to Jack and Beulah (Ester) Pointer. He was married to Mona (Malone) Pointer on June 2, 1950, in Salem, Ill. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Omer was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Brownwood. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family at Lake Brownwood. He also liked collecting coins and guns. Omer completed 38 years of service with Texaco, and he belonged to the VFW Post No. 8231.

Omer is survived by one son, Jack Pointer and wife Julia of Brownwood; three daughters, Debbie Bronner and husband Joseph of Cincinnati, Ohio, Patti Pointer of Lubbock, Texas, Lisa Ward and husband Leroy of Lubbock, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Marion Myers and June Risinger.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mona Pointer; and his parents, Jack and Beulah Pointer.
