The 17-year-old driver of a car that struck a fence Tuesday afternoon in the 1900 block of Austin Avenue was arrested on charges of DWI, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of an inhalant, according to Brownwood police and Brown County Jail records.

Jeffrey Beck of Brownwood, the driver of the 2005 Nissan Altima that struck the fence, was booked on the charges.

Officer Joe Thomas responded to the accident after multiple callers reported the car had hit the fence and the driver was passed out at the wheel, Thomas' report states.

"Upon contact with the driver, I saw him inhaling the contents of a Duster aerosol can which produces similar effects to intoxication," Thomas' report states.

The driver's speech was extremely slurred and he had no recollection of striking the fence, the report states.

The driver was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center by Guardian EMS.

Officer Robert Lee made a traffic stop Tuesday in the 2200 block of Southside and arrested Troy Eaton Jr., 19, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Office Kim Cantu was dispatched Tuesday to the 1500 block of Davis Lane on a report of a suicide attempt. One person was taken to the emergency room.

Cantu was dispatched Tuesday to Ace Cash Express on a report of a counterfeit $100 bill.

Kirby Morris, 43, Rochelle, DWI third or more, resisting arrest, driving with invalid license (McCulloch County).

Patrick Shannon, 22, Brownwood, terroristic threat.
