The Texas Radio Hall of Fame has announced that Rex Tackett will be inducted into the 2012 Texas Radio Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 10, in San Antonio.  Tackett is owner/partner of Wendlee Broadcasting with stations KXYL-AM/FM, KQBZ-FM, and KSTA-AM in Brownwood and Coleman.

Tackett’s radio career has spanned 43 years working in sales, sales management, general management and ownership of Top 40, Album Rock, Classic Rock, News/Talk, Sports, Rap, Urban Gold, Gospel, Country and Adult Contemporary formatted radio stations.

Tackett was a general manager at radio stations in San Antonio, Houston, Beaumont, and Oklahoma City while working for Clear Channel Communications, CBS Radio, Doubleday Broadcasting and Waterman Broadcasting.

Tackett owned and operated Wicks Radio, his own group of 19 radio stations, with stations located in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana and New York before moving to Brownwood with his wife and radio partner Mariann Morris Tackett in 2001.

Locally, Tackett has served on the boards of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Aldersgate Enrichment Center, the Brownwood Kiwanis Club, the Association for Retarded Citizens, the Boy Scouts of America Texas Trails Council, and helped establish the Kiwanis Aktion Club. He was named "Kiwanian of the Year" in the Brownwood club in 2008.

“It is an honor to be included among many of the men and women I have always admired in the radio broadcasting industry,” Tackett said.
