For her first Halloween at the Card & Party Factory in Brownwood, store manager Margaret McGuire knew she wanted to have a one of a kind display for shoppers.

“I just wanted to do a unique display,” McGuire said. “Once I had my idea, I knew I could make it happen.”

McGuire enlisted the help of her brother-in-law, Randal Segura to build an old fashioned coffin. After the coffin was finished, McGuire and her staff set up the display in front of the cash registers.

It wasn’t long before the old-fashioned coffin was attracting the attention of customers. Soon after that, McGuire started getting offers on the coffin.

“After the offers, I decided to raffle the coffin,” McGuire said. “I thought it would be a good thing to do for charity.”

Raffle tickets are available for $1 a piece or six for $5. The drawing for the coffin will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 27. All proceeds from the raffle will go to benefit Good Samaritan Ministries.

“I’m hoping we will help raise more funds for them for the upcoming holiday season,” McGuire said.
