The Brownwood ISD has been selected on one of three small district finalists in H-E-B's Excellence in Education Awards program.
For more than a decade, H-E-B has rewarded teachers, principals, superintendents, campuses and early childhood education providers for outstanding leadership and teaching through Excellence in Education.
H-E-B will present the five regional finalists in the large district category with a $5,000 check, and the three finalists in the small district category with a $2,500 check. To determine overall statewide winners, a panel of judges is visiting each district, walking through campuses and visiting with administration, staff and parents.
Winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on May 3 at the Hilton Hotel in Austin. The winning large school district will receive a $100,000 cash prize and the winning small school district will receive $50,000.
Joining Brownwood in the small district category are Hillsboro ISD and Houston KIPP School.
The five large district finalists are Round Rock ISD, McAllen ISD, Humble ISD, Lewisville ISD and Southwest ISD in San Antonio.
