Members of the Women of Purpose group from Abundant Life Church have spent the last six months preparing for Saturday’s garage sale fundraiser, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We were going to have a garage sale to benefit the group but decided to change it to benefit Cade Boyle,” Deana Johnson said. “After his passing, we decided to turn the fund-raiser into a celebration of his life.”
Along with the garage sale, Johnson said the celebration would include a rock wall, dunk booth, shark slide, cakewalk and more.
“When he passed away, it really hit the church hard,” Johnson said. “Cade was such an inspiration and always had a smile. We really dug deep to get everything together for Saturday.”
More than 100 members from Abundant Life Church have helped prepare for Saturday’s fundraiser by sorting and arranging all of the donated items. Some of the items donated include household furniture, office furniture, clothing for all ages and sizes, kitchenware and much more.
“The community’s response has been overwhelming. God has blessed us with a lot of donations,” Johnson said. “We’ve had several items donated including two trailer loads of office desks and other furniture.”
Johnson encourages anyone interested in volunteering their time for the fundraiser to arrive at the church at 8 a.m. to receive assignments.
“While he may be in heaven, his presence can still be felt here,” Johnson said. “He’s made such a big impression on everyone that he’ll never be forgotten.”
Proceeds raised from Saturday’s fundraiser will go to Cade’s family to help with the medical expenses accumulated over the last two years. Any items remaining after the fundraiser will be donated to Good Samaritan Ministries.
