GRAHAM — The Brownwood Lady Lions chalked up their second victory in a three-game span Friday night, claiming a 25-20, 17-25, 25-16, 26-24 road triumph over Graham.
With the win, the Lady Lions improved to 6-14 overall and have won five of their last 11 matches following a 1-8 start to the season.
“The girls fought so hard,” said Lady Lions first-year head coach Lorrie Beelby. “We had a rough start in the second set but they came out ready after that. We have talked about fighting and keeping our confidence and this group is so great at responding. Everyone contributed in a big way and I’m so proud of them. They’re all growing together and individually as players.”
Offensively, Maddie Oines tallied 11 kills followed by 10 from Kayli Waddle, while Naomi Rosato distributed 26 assists and Paxton Vaughn dished out 14. Also, Josie McClung and Alley Jowers served three aces apiece.
On the defensive side, Jowers collected a team-best 24 digs trailed by 23 from Jennifer Martinez. Waddle finished with three blocks and Sharday Melvin added a pair.
The Lady Lions return home Tuesday as they host Breckenridge at 6 p.m.
