Training Institute will allow new and current volunteers from across Central Texas to take advanced and specialty disaster courses

The Red Cross is offering a unique opportunity for Central Texans to enhance their disaster preparedness through a series of training courses at the new Brownwood location. Both experienced and brand new volunteers are encouraged to attend the training institute, as these courses are not available on a regular basis. Anyone can apply by stopping by the Brownwood office or calling (325) 658-4409. Applications are due by Sept. 20.

WHO: New and current volunteers at the American Red Cross, West Central Texas Chapter

WHY: A disaster can strike at any moment, and the more prepared volunteers we have, the better! Some classes are designed for new volunteers, and others will be for seasoned Red Crossers. These courses are not offered frequently, so the Red Cross encourages people to sign up for this unique opportunity. Being trained will allow community members to help serve those crucial roles when disasters strike.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 - Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Overnight accommodations available. Applications due by Sept. 20.
