The Brownwood High tennis machine keeps plowing through opponents.

The Lions and Lady Lions extended their flawless start to 10 consecutive victories as they cruised by Class 5A foes Killeen Ellison, 16-3, and Copperas Cove, 12-7, on Saturday. The victory over Copperas Cove was the second by Brownwood this season.

In the win over Killeen Ellison, the Lions won eight of their matches, the Lady Lions chalked up seven victories and the mixed doubles match also went in Brownwood’s favor.

On the boys side, singles wins were earned by Mark Johnson (6-0, 6-1 over Christian Manalang), Joaquin Alonzo (6-3, 6-4 over Ethan Fuller), Bennie Salazar (6-3, 6-0 over Michael Guerara), Matthew Bryant (6-1, 6-2 over Angel Bernard), Caleb Baccus (5-7, 6-4, 6-3 over Markell Johnson) and Timothy Sheehan (6-1, 7-5 over Michael Osburn).

In doubles action for the Lions, teams chalking up victories were Johnson and Alonzo (7-5, 6-3 over Manalang and Guerara) and Baccus and Salazar (6-0, 6-4 over Bernard and Osburn).

Lady Lions to collect singles victories included Delaney Bennett (5-7, 6-1, 6-3 over Karie Clark), Stephanie Thompson (3-6, 6-4, 6-0 over Marie Brue), Brittney Blake (5-7, 6-3, 6-4 over LaKara Nairn), Lindsey Williams (6-1, 7-5 over Sarah Driver) and Bailey Bishop (4-6, 7-6 [7-3], 6-2).

Notching doubles wins for the Lady Lions were Bennett and Rosie Cadena (6-3, 6-2 over Tanae Kennedy and Brue) and Bishop and Emma Sharpe (6-3, 3-6, 6-3 over Nairn and Chang).

Picking up the mixed doubles win was the team of Bryant and Williams (6-1, 6-4 over Clark and Johnson).

In the match against Copperas Cove, the Lions captured eight victories, including all three doubles matches.

Tallying wins were the tandems of Alonzo and Bryant (1-6, 6-1, 6-4 over Jaime Chacon and Dominic Smith), Baccus and Salazar (7-5, 6-4 over Jeremiah Gray and James Llanas) and Sheehan and Casey Shannon (6-0, 6-4 over Jake Abraham and Nic Fletcher).

Singles wins for the Lions belonged to Johnson (6-1, 6-0 over Chacon), Salazar (7-6, 6-1 over Llanas), Bryant (6-1, 6-2 over Caleb Burns), Baccus (6-4, 6-4 over Fletcher) and Sheehan (6-4, 7-5 over Abraham).

On the girls side, Lady Lion singles wins were collected by Williams (7-5, 6-1 over Hope Greiner) and Bishop (0-6, 6-1, 6-4 over Justice Bucio), while the doubles victory came from Bishop and Sharpe (7-5, 7-5 over Bucio and Wilson).

Johnson and Cadena also teamed up for a 6-0, 6-1 mixed doubles win over Burns and Daelin Hoffman.

Brownwood will return to the court at 4 p.m. Thursday when it hosts San Saba.
