Business is good for Clear Talk Wireless -- so good, the cell phone provider is moving its local store out of the Heartland Mall kiosk it has occupied for 11 months and into a building in Brownwood.

Clear Talk Wireless, a national company that offers no-contract cell phone service, has multiple locations including the one at Heartland Mall. The local office will have an Oct. 4 grand opening at its new location -- 403. N. Main, across from the Red Wagon restaurant.

“We really enjoyed it here,” local manager David Correia said of the Heartland Mall location. But the store is ready for its “next step” -- the move to its own building.

While the kiosk has provided “walk-by” business, Clear Talk doesn’t rely on that, but goes out to market itself and “partner up” with other businesses, Correia said.

Correia and employee Jeff Crozier explained what they believe are the advantages of Clear Talk, including the ability to “flash you phone.” That means any cell phone that doesn’t require a SIM card can be used as a Clear Talk Wireless phone, the two said.

Clear Talk is also reaching out to help others. Clear Talk has offered to volunteer to help at the Salvation Army. Next month, Clear Talk will host a Frisbee disc tournament at Riverside Park to benefit The Ark domestic abuse shelter.

Clear Talk has “lots of things in the fire,” Correia said, including the possibility of additional Brown County locations.
