BIG LAKE — The Bangs Lady Dragons clinched at least a share of the District 6-2A volleyball championship and can win the title outright Saturday following Tuesday’s 25-9, 25-10, 25-8 victory over Reagan County.

The Lady Dragons (21-6, 7-0) will host Sonora (6-1 in 6-2A) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the district finale. With a win, Bangs secures the outright title, while a loss would force the Lady Dragons to share the crown with Sonora, and a tiebreaker would settle seeding.

“The game today was really fun,” Kady Kyle said of the Reagan County victory. “We were all having a great time. Since this is our last district away game, the ride home was emotional. We plan on working hard this week and earning a district title before moving on to the playoffs.”

In Tuesday’s win over Reagan County, Kyle, Callie Sprowls and Kassidy Adams led Bangs with five kills each followed by four from Jaylee Roberts, two each from Cheyanne Lovelady and Mercedes Hinze and one from Liz Pettit.

Lovelady tallied 12 assists and Adams added three, while Roberts served eight aces and Lovelady contributed six. Sprowls also chipped in three aces and Adams added a pair, as well.

Defensively, Lovelady, Sprowls and Adams notched four digs for the Lady Dragons, Alyssa Roberts tallied three, Pettit and Roberts finished with two each and Amber Jones added one.

“We brought our own energy, which we usually have trouble doing in games like this,” Pettit said. “It wasn’t one of our best games, but considering two of our starters were out I think we did well. The players that went in for them stepped up and did their job. We didn’t lose our intensity, we got our serves over at crucial points and we finished each set strong. Winning this game just brings us a step closer to going undefeated in district.”
