GOLDTHWAITE The Zephyr Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs both captured District 16-A cross country championships Monday and advanced to Region II-A competition in Arlington on Nov. 2.

The Lady Bulldogs, who qualified for state in each of the past two seasons, tallied 25 points which placed them in front of runner-up Lipan (39), Huckabay (102), Priddy (111), Blanket (113), Sidney (139) and Gordon (162).

The Bulldogs finished with 21 points, which put them ahead of Priddy (45) and Gustine (70), the only other schools to field full teams.

Individually, the Lady Bulldogs claimed four of the top five spots as Haven Rogers was second (13:00), Chasity Williams was third (13:01), Darian Smith was fourth (13:16) and Karina Rincon was fifth (13:18). Lauren Jesko came in 11th (14:08), Codi Perkins finished 13th (14:13) and Georgia Thomas placed 24th (15:5).

The Bulldogs earned the top three individual spots as Jacob Allgood (17.49.5) won the boys race trailed by Hunter Hallum (18:20.4) in second place and Brayden Whisenhunt (18.33.3) in third. Jacob King (19:04.9) came in seventh, Gage Taylor (19:21.5) finished eighth, Matt Turk (19:45.4) placed 10th and Billy Burkett (20.22.5) was 11th.
