TUSCOLA —  The Brownwood Lady Lions tasted defeat for just the second time this season, falling to the Class 2A Jim Ned Lady Indians by a 52-46 count Tuesday night.

Brownwood (6-2) jumped out to a 14-8 lead and carried a 32-25 edge into halftime, but mustered just 14 points in the second half.

The Lady Lions clung to a 38-35 edge heading to the fourth period, where they were outscored 17-8 over the final eight minutes.

The Lady Lions shot 44 percent (15 of 34) from the field and 63 percent (12 of 19) at the free throw line, but committed 17 turnovers.

Keeta Vaccaro led Brownwood with 20 points and five steals followed by Trejouir Wilson with 10 points, Alyson Finnigan with eight and Ashley Vaccaro and Unique Jefferson with four points apiece.


 Jim Ned 71, Lions 37

TUSCOLA – The struggles for the Brownwood Lions continued Tuesday as they dropped a 71-37 road decision to the Class 2A Jim Ned Indians.

Brownwood (0-3) trailed 24-8 after one quarter, 42-16 at halftime and 61-23 through three periods.

Hayden Day scored a team-high eight points for the Lions trailed by Cory Richardson and Rosavelt Duffie with seven apiece, Tanner Donathan with five, Kye Healer with four, Bruce Sterling with three, Eric Burns with two and Rylee Gregory with one point.
