The Howard Payne Lady Jackets rebounded from their first loss of the season and completed an American Southwest Conference sweep of Sul Ross with a 105-72 victory over the Lady Lobos Tuesday night at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne (2-1, 2-1) - which defeated Sul Ross, 96-54, in its season opener on Nov. 19 - shot 49 percent overall (40 of 82) and 32 percent (10 of 31) at the three-point arc. The Lady Jackets also owned a 68-38 edge in rebounds – with 22 coming on the offensive end – which allowed HPU to overcome its 21 turnovers.
The Lady Jackets jumped out to a 63-35 halftime lead behind a 59 percent (23 of 39) shooting effort over the first 20 minutes.
Two HPU players recorded double-doubles as Britani Gattis finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds while Sarah Van Remmen added 18 points and 14 boards. Also scoring for HPU were Danyel Bradley with 21 points, McKinley Meyer with 17, Yessenia Cazares with seven, Shardena Hudson and Kalin Hanna with five each, Jessica Galaviz with four and Kyndal Broome with three. Hanna also pulled down 10 rebounds.
For Sul Ross (1-4, 0-2), Asrelle Anderson scored a game-high 26 points while Ashley Ousley added 10.
The Lady Jackets return to action at 3 p.m. Saturday at former American Southwest Conference rival Schreiner.

Sul Ross 76, Yellow Jackets 73
The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets are still in search of their elusive first victory following a 76-73 home loss to Sul Ross Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (0-4, 0-3) have been swept by Sul Ross in ASC action, though they lost both games by a combined five points.
In the first meeting, HPU erased a sizeable deficit but could not complete the comeback. Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets led by nine points, 58-49, with 8:49 left and could not hang on to the lead.
Brandon Gould scored 28 points for HPU followed by 13 from Christian Davis, 12 from Donovan Ford, eight from Quelan Lancaster, five from Nigele Robertson, four from Ross Whittet and two from Jorden Young.
For Sul Ross (2-2, 2-0), Darrell Gardner tallied 17 points, Mychal Pinson added 16 and Percy Settle notched a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets visit ASC rival Concordia on Dec. 5.
