Thirteen members of the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets football team combined for 14 honors on the recently released all-American Southwest Conference football roster.

Six Yellow Jackets were chosen for the second team receiver Colby Mica, offensive tackle Michael Watford, running back Zarron Dove, defensive tackle Donald Preston and defensive backs Josh Eppler and Jordan Shaw.

Receiving honorable mention were guard Patrick Dillard, quarterback Richard Young, receiver Tristan Fuentes, linebackers Jason Disney and Bo Ross, cornerbacks Maurice Young and Xavier McFalls and Eppler at punter.

Mica led the ASC in receptions per game at 7.6 and was third in the conference in receiving yards per game at 79.2 per outing.

Watford, as well as Dillard, started all 10 games and were a part of a HPU offensive that allowed a conference low 13 sacks on the year.

Dove finished fifth in the conference in rushing and was in the top 10 in scoring, receptions and receiving yards per game.

Preston finished the season with three sacks, 31 tackles (4.5 for loss), three sacks and a fumble recovery.

Eppler was second on the team in tackles with 68, with eight pass breakups and two interceptions. He also tallied 41 punts for a 37.4-yard average.

Shaw finished 10th in the ASC in tackles with 78. He had four pass breakups, one interception and two forced fumbles.

Young led the ASC in total offense averaging 295.6 yards per game, and in passing yards per game at 278.8 yards. He ranked second in the ASC in pass efficiency at 136.6.

Fuentes finished third in the ASC in kick returns. He had 21 returns for 509 yards and a long of 88 yards. He also caught 29 passes for 456 yards and seven touchdowns.

Disney led the ASC in tackles for loss with 20.5 on the year. He was sixth in the ASC in total tackles with 83 and finished fifth in sacks with eight.

Ross finished third on the team in tackles with 74, including five for loss. He also had two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Young finished fifth in the ASC in pass breakups with 11. He had four interceptions on the season, good for second in the ASC. He had 47 total tackles, four for loss.

McFalls finished with 49 total tackles, three for loss, along with five pass breakups.

The Yellow Jackets posted a 4-6 record under second-year head coach Roger Geise their best since 2009 and went 2-4 in conference play.
