Children in the Brown County area will have a chance to eat lunch with Santa Claus from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Salvation Army.

“We used to do breakfast with Santa but decided to change it,” said Donna Harris, executive director at the Salvation Army Service Center of Brownwood.

During the lunch, families will get the opportunity to take Christmas portraits with Santa Claus.

“Every family should have photos taken each year with their families,” Harris said. “I know it’s hard to get this done when you’re living on a tight budget.”

When she discovered one of her clients had not taken a family portrait in several years, Harris volunteered to take a photo for the family. A few months after the photograph was taken, the family lost one of the members.

“Since I took their family portrait, they had a recent photo to use for the services,” Harris said. “You just don’t know the value of getting a family portrait made.”

Along with taking the photographs, Harris will provide each family with a 4x6 copy of the family photograph.
