Work is under way in the replacement of the turf at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Brownwood school board members approved a $426,649 bid last month to Paragon Sports Constructors of Fort Worth to replace the 10-year-old turf, which, school officials have said, was at the end of its useful life.

Paragon workers were the new bright green turf into place late Friday afternoon.

School officials said earlier that some of the old turf can be used in small areas including the new ag show barn and batting cages.

The new turf will have a lifespan of at least 10 years, school officials have said.

The project has a Feb. 4 completion date, but it could be completed by Jan. 10, school officials said earlier.
