DUDLEY, N.C. ? Lonnie Dale Stanley of Dudley, N.C., and formerly from Blanket, was called to his Heavenly home on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A beloved husband of Lorene Mitchell Stanley of 30 years, Lonnie Dale enjoyed whittling model airplanes, photographing family memories, picking the guitar, tinkering and gardening. He also loved visiting with church family and friends, sharing His faith in the Lord Jesus with all who would listen and telling jokes and stories to his grandbabies.

Upon graduation from Blanket High school, he proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force for 20 years. Lonnie Dale served as a deacon, dedicated Sunday school teacher, and choir member at First Baptist Church of Blanket. A cherished member of his community he currently served in ministries as a member at Love Memorial Baptist Church in Goldsboro, N.C.

In addition to his wife, Lorene; he is survived by his daughter, Sheila and Kelvin Gurley of Grantham; step-son, Dwight Sutton and Rita Cotton of Maysville N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Also surviving are his sisters, Betty Rountree of Goldthwaite, and Nettie Tatum of Houston; brothers, Billie Stanley of Odessa and Chester Stanley of Goldthwaite.

A time of celebration and sharing was held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Love Memorial Baptist Church, Goldsboro, N.C.
