BANGS — Haley Pitts converted a layup just before time expired, and the Bangs Lady Dragons clinched a playoff berth with a 43-42 District 6-2A home win over Ballinger Friday night.

The Lady Dragons (15-12, 9-2) trailed 18-15 after one quarter, pulled ahead 24-21 at halftime and the game was tied at 35 heading to the fourth period.

Kady Kyle finished with 16 points for Bangs trailed by 13 from Kinsie Ward, eight from Rachael Willard, four from Pitts and two points from Charly Lipsey.

The Lady Dragons venture to No. 7 Jim Ned at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Longhorns 34, Jim Ned 31

EARLY — The Early Longhorns rebounded Tuesday’s loss to Bangs and held off the Jim Ned Indians for a 34-31 victory in District 6-2A boys basketball action Friday night.

Early (15-6, 6-3) led 6-5 after one quarter, 18-12 at halftime and 28-20 through three periods.

Josh Benson and Bubba Reno scored 10 points each for Early followed by Chase Riker with eight, Jakob Morgan with three, Colin Walker with two and Brady King with one point.

The Longhorns will face No. 7 Wall at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Dragons 63, Ballinger 50

BANGS — The Bangs Dragons tallied a second straight District 6-2A boys basketball victory Friday night, easily handling Ballinger by a 63-50 count.

Bangs (12-7, 6-3) led 15-2 after one quarter, 28-17 at halftime and 48-34 heading to the fourth period.

Dalton Johnson paced the Dragons with 18 points trailed by 13 from Keegan Hall, eight each from Willie Calvin, Brayden James and Frankie Smith, four from Chayne Burton and two points apiece from Josh Truelove and Josh San Juan.

No. 7 Jim Ned 44, Lady Horns 21

EARLY — The Early Lady Horns were dealt a second straight District 6-2A basketball loss Friday night, falling to No. 7 Jim Ned by a 44-21 count.

Early (5-17, 4-7) trailed 15-4 after one quarter, 35-8 at halftime and 40-13 through three periods.

Janae Williams and K.J. Elkins finished with six points each for the Lady Horns trailed by four from Samantha Garrett, two each from Andee Jo Rose and Aspen Escamilla and one point from Rylie McGinnis.

The Lady Horns visit No. 8 Wall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
