The Bangs Dragons and Early Longhorns remained tied for second place in the District 6-2A boys basketball standings following Friday victories, with one game left in the regular season. Both teams have already clinched playoff berths.

Longhorns 49, Brady 40

BRADY The Early Longhorns chalked up their third consecutive District 6-2A victory, knocking off Brady a 49-40 count.

Tied at 8 after one quarter and 18 at halftime, Early (18-7, 9-4) grabbed a 33-24 advantage through three periods.

Chase Riker poured in 17 points to lead Early followed by 13 from Jonathan Moore, seven from Josh Benson, six from Jakob Morgan, two each from Bubba Reno and Jake Fisher and one point apiece from Colin Walker and Brady King.

The Longhorns host Grape Creek at 7 p.m. Monday in their regular season finale.

Dragons 58, Grape Creek 29

SAN ANGELO The Bangs Dragons rebounded from their loss to state-ranked Wall by defeating the Grape Creek Eagles, 58-29.

Bangs (14-8, 9-4) trailed 8-6 after one quarter, led 26-14 at halftime and took a 46-20 advantage into the fourth period.

Dalton Johnson paced the Dragons with 16 points trailed by Josh Truelove with 13, Keegan Hall with eight, Brayden James and Frankie Smith with six each, Willie Calvin with three and Baylen Horton and Robert Richardson with two points apiece.

The Dragons conclude their regular season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Coleman.
