N ANGELO — Down nine points after one quarter, the Bangs Dragons clawed from behind to defeat the Reagan County Owls, 49-42, Tuesday night in Region I-2A bi-district playoff action at the Junnell Center on the campus of Angelo State University.

Bangs (18-8), the second seed from District 6-2A, will face District 7-2A champion Breckenridge Friday in the area round of the playoffs at a site and time to be determined.

Reagan County (20-12) led Bangs by a 15-6 count after one quarter, but the Dragons trimmed the deficit to 24-18 by halftime. Through three periods, the Dragons had grabbed a 32-31 lead and Bangs pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Dalton Johnson again led Bangs with 17 points trailed by 10 from Keegan Hall, eight from Brayden James, seven from Frankie Smith, six from Josh Truelove and one point from Willie Calvin.


Kermit 49, Longhorns 44

SAN ANGELO — For the second consecutive year, the Kermit Yellow Jackets brought an end to Early’s season in the bi-district round of the playoffs as the Longhorns fell, 49-44, Tuesday night at the Junnell Center on the campus of Angelo State University.

Early (19-9), the third seed from District 6-2A, led Kermit (23-5) by a 13-7 count after one quarter, but fell behind 29-17 at halftime. The Longhorns closed to within 39-30 after three quarters, and took the lead briefly in the fourth period, but were unable to hang on to the advantage.

Josh Benson paced Early with 18 points trailed by Bubba Reno with 14, Chase Riker with seven, Jake Fisher with three and Jakob Morgan with two points.
