BRADY — Ralph P. Sherman passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Melvin Cemetery with burial to follow.
Ralph was born January 3, 1925, to Jesse and Allie Mae Sherman in Melvin, Texas. He was raised in McCulloch County with his four brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received several medals during his service. Following his separation, he graduated from Baylor University and served as a Texas State Trooper out of Pecos.
After working many years for Sears and Roebuck, Ralph’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to own convenience stores, pawn shops, and a childcare center; invest in real estate; and ultimately spend years as a realtor in both Fort Worth and Brownwood.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Ruth Sherman; children, Bruce Sherman and wife Carolyn, Deena Nichols and husband Jim, Jess Sherman, and Mike Sherman and wife Melissa; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
