Kim Peterson, who has been working for 2 1/2 years as curator of the Martin and Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum, starts work Monday as manager of Heartland Mall.

Peterson, reached by phone late Thursday afternoon, confirmed her new job, saying she will remain involved with the train museum through the end of the month.

Peterson replaces Brittany Edwards, who began working as mall manager in February 2013. Edwards, who owns the Dazzling Diva store in Brownwood, said she has taken a job as marketing director for Doc's Pharmacy.

Both women expressed excitement about their new jobs.

"It's an exciting move," Peterson said. "I'm happy to get the opportunity to help grow the mall." She said Edwards has done a fantastic job and she hopes to take the mall to "the next level" and continue efforts to bring in new businesses, "recruiting and contacting stores to come and be part of that community."

Edwards said she welcomes her new opportunity, saying marketing is her passion.

She said Peterson will do a good job. "I'm excited for her," Edwards said. "The mall has lots of exciting things coming. People need to be supportive and keep shopping local."

An opening for Peterson's job as museum curator has been posted on the City of Brownwood's website.
