A Comanche man is in a Temple hospital after being shot by a Comanche police officer early Saturday morning during a confrontation with police, according to a press release from Comanche Police Chief Bruce Bradshaw.

Bradshaw identified the man who was shot as Chance Dylan Garcia, 23, who is at Scott and White Hospital in critical condition.

According Bradshaw's release:

Comanche police received a call of a disturbance at 406 N. Houston at 12:48 a.m. Saturday. Officers were advised that shots had been fired and there was possibly an armed person in the residence.

Officer Jared Spohn approached the residence and began to talk with the suspect. "The suspect confronted Officer Spohn with a handgun and was shot by Officer Spohn," the release stated. 

Garcia was initially taken to the Comanche Community Hospital and flown by helicopter to the Temple hospital.

Sgt. Jason Shea of the Texas Rangers is investigating the shooting.
