COMANCHE — Funeral services for Roger Dean Murphree, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Burns officiating and the Rev. Keith Clifton assisting. Burial will be in White Point Cemetery in Comanche County. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Lunch for the family will be follow the services at First Baptist Church Youth Building, 408 N. Lane Street, Comanche.
He died Sunday, July 13, 2014, in Brownwood.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Comanche County, to William Code and Ethel Elmina (Parsons) Murphree. He was U. S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. On March 10, 1956, he was married to Jan Rogers in the Parlor of the First Baptist Church of Comanche. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche. He was a cattleman/rancher.
Survivors include his wife, Jan (Rogers) Murphree of Comanche; son, William Randall “Randy” Murphree and wife Delores of Hamilton; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; brothers, Ray Murphree of Comanche and Billy Murphree and wife Patsy of Monahans; sisters, Lois Brooks of Abilene and Bobbie Curtis of Lubbock; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Murphree and Pat Murphree; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law.
