The Heart of Texas Christian Women's Job Corps will hold their summer Super Bunco tournament, Thursday, at the Central United Methodist Church, 1501 2nd St.
The tournament is one of three annual fundraisers CWJC sponsors to support their efforts to offer quality, beneficial training to women of all ages who are just entering or re-entering the workforce. The next CWJC classes will begin on August 25 and volunteers will be available at the tournament to answer questions and register students.
Board member Jill Evans said over $500 in donated prizes will be given during the tournament. The one-night event includes a silent auction, from 6-8:30 p.m.
"You do not have to participate in the bunco tournament to bid on the silent auction items," Evans said, "just come by between 6 and 8:30 p.m. to view the items and place bids."
According to Evans, the silent auction will include over ten handmade quilts, of all sizes and for all seasons.
"The silent auction quilts are gorgeous," said Evans, "along with several unique and beautiful items going into the auction."
A donation of $20 includes entry to the tournament and a "Mexican Fiesta" dinner. All proceeds benefit the CWJC's operations and materials for the fall classes.
The doors will open at 6 p.m., with the meal served at 6:30. Tickets will be available at the event or may be purchased in advance at the Family Services Center. For more information, call (325)643-1788 or (325)646-5939.

Each student is paired with a female mentor, to guide and empower the student for success.
