BRADY — Funeral services for Ida Mae Bridges Jones, 81, of Brady will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Brady, with the Rev. Selestor Johnson officiating, with the Rev. Vernon Jones and the Rev. Ernest Kirk assisting. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady.
She died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Brady, Texas.
She was born July 25, 1932, in Center Point, to Ernest Benson and Mabel (George) Williams. She was married to Nathaniel Puddin Jones Sr. on Aug. 11, 1949, in Brady. She was a domestic worker and a Foster Grandparent at the Brady Head Start and had worked as a CNA at Shuffield No. 2 for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of the St. James Baptist Church in Brady.??
Survivors include her sons, Nathaniel Puddin Jones Jr. and wife Nellie of Houston, the Rev. Vernon George Jones and wife Martha of Brady, Christopher Ray Jones of Austin, and Jimmy Kyle Jones and wife Vanessa of Austin; daughters, Sandra Sue Jones Bell and husband Willie of Brady, Granida Jones Johnson and husband the Rev. Selestor of Brady, Christine Jones Patterson and husband Curtis of Brady, Idette Mae Jones Gipson and husband Craig of Houston, and Yolanda Jones of Houston; half-daughter, Deborah Lewis of Kirbyville; grandchildren she raised as her own, Clayton Lewis Jones and wife Lisa of Willard, Ohio, and Jaquetta Ann Jones of Brady; brothers, William Shelby of Brady, Ernest Benson Jr. and Leroy Benson of Del Rio; sisters, Ernestine Rose, Cynthia Johnson and Patricia Benson of Del Rio; 46 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Rankin Williams; husband, Nathaniel Puddin Jones Sr.; son, Willie Frank Jones; daughters, Sharon Ann Jones and Kaprina Lynn Jones.
