Redstone Park Independent and Assisted Living will host a Back to School party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, with help from numerous local sponsors.

According to Redstone Executive Director Janie Harper, the event will include free hotdogs by Heart of Texas EMS, a bounce house sponsored by CMS Home Health and more.

"It's all about supporting our kids and helping with school supplies," Harper said. "But we'll have entertainment and music and we'll have games going on inside and outside the building."

She said there will also be several emergency vehicles from the ambulance services, police department and fire department for the kids to see.

"The main goal is that Redstone Park wants to support our community and give back to support our kids and our families," Harper said. "We've got several hundred backpacks to give out. If we run out of those, we'll go to just bags with supplies. We don't want any kid to leave empty handed."

Supplies will be given away, as long as they last. Harper encourages parents to register their kids, who must be present, early in the day, upon arrival.

"This is something we wanted to start this year and hopefully continue every year and grow," Harper said, "because all of us know it's so expensive to get supplies for the kids. Sometimes just finding the supplies is a miracle."

Co-sponsoring the event are CMS Home Health, Integracare Home Health, Guardian Home Health, Brady Health Care Services, Encompass Home Health, Girling Home Health (Gentiva), Klarus Home Health, Doc's Drugstore, Heart of Texas EMS, Ag Mart and Killa the Therapy Dog.

Redstone Park is located at 2410 Songbird Circle, accessed by turning east at the four-way stop of the intersection of Streckert and Crockett Dr.
