DUBLIN — The Bangs Lady Dragons finished play in the Dublin tournament with a 1-2 record Saturday, defeating Clyde in three sets before falling to Kopperl in straight sets and Gustine in three sets.
In the 25-19, 21-25, 25-16 victory over Clyde, Callie Sprowls recorded nine kills trailed by eight kills from Melissa Reynolds.
“Raelee Francois did a great job setting the ball and it was a good team effort for an early morning game,” said Bangs first-year head coach Lori Eason.
Facing Kopperl in the semifinals of the challengers bracket, Bangs was dealt a 25-20, 25-21 loss.
Sprowls finished with nine kills and Francois was again praised for her setting, but Bangs committed seven service errors.
In the 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 loss to Gustine, Sprowls tallied eight kills and Reynolds added seven.
“Unforced errors got us again,” Eason said.
Bangs (6-9) returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Burnet.
