VOSS — Memorial services for Isaac Samuel Pate Jr. (Sammy) will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the First Baptist Church, with Bro. Gary Boyd and Rick Marshall officiating. His body will be cremated under the direction of Allcorn Funeral and Cremation Care, with a private burial to be held in the Voss Cemetery.
He died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born June 12, 1935, in Voss, to Isaac and Mary (Owen) Pate. He raised sheep and cattle and worked in oil fields. He was married to Lois Cullins in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60. Following his divorce, he was married to Lou Ann Moore Duke on Sept. 18, 1977. He worked for the W.W. West Drilling Co. of Midland as a driller and tool pusher for 17 years, and then worked for B&G Energy Corporation of Midland as Field Superintendent until January 2011. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ann Moore Pate of Coleman; son, Stephen Pate of Sweetwater; daughter, Jean Pate Morrow and husband Mark of Nolan; two step-daughters, Dee Ann Duke Day and husband Ricky of Willow Park, Julie Duke Swink and husband Lawrence of Arlington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Pate Jamison and husband Dick, and Eileen Pate, all of Voss.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leona; and a brother, David Pate.
