BASTROP, Texas (AP) — Central Texas school officials say a stabbing at a high school has left one student injured and prompted an evacuation of the building.
The student who was stabbed Thursday morning at Bastrop High School was taken to a hospital for treatment. The student's condition was not known. Bastrop school district officials say a suspect is being held by police but did not indicate if the person is a student at the school.
Following the stabbing, the school about 25 miles southeast of Austin was placed on lockdown and students were taken to a nearby performing arts center owned by the district. They were later taken back to the school as classes resumed.
No other information was immediately available.
