The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team tuned up for Tuesday’s first-round playoff match against Iowa Park by avenging a loss from the early portion of the season.
The Lady Lions chalked up a 25-20, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Breckenridge Friday night after falling to the Lady Bucks in four sets on Sept. 9.
“It was a great win for us,” said Lady Lions head coach Lorrie Beelby. “We played with lots of energy, just overall the perfect warm up for the playoffs. I was especially proud of our front row. We have been working on blocking and I thought we really did a good job of disrupting their hitters tonight.”
Brownwood received nine kills from Payton Kallman and eight from Maddie Oines, while Paxton Vaughn distributed 26 assists. Oines and Tristan Escamilla finished with two aces apiece.
Defensively, Jennifer Martinez tallied 18 digs and Kayla McFarden added 14, while Kallman collected 3.5 blocks and Bailey Randle finished with two.
The Lady Lions (18-20) will face Iowa Park at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Springtown in Region I-4A bi-district playoff action.
