Brownwood police released a press release Monday morning regarding the shooting death of a man in the 1300 block of Brady Avenue.

The release stated:

On Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, around 4:15 p.m. officers of the Brownwood Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Brady Avenue after receiving a 911 call of gunfire in the area.  

Upon arrival, officers were directed to an adjacent alleyway where they discovered an unresponsive Hispanic male. The male was later identified as 34-year-old Ernesto Gonzales Jr. of Brownwood.  Mr Gonzales was deceased.  

Detectives with the Brownwood Police Department Criminal Investigations Division were summoned to the scene and began their investigation. They were assisted by members of the Early Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety.

Mr. Gonzales’ body was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Austin for an autopsy.

Assistant Police Chief James Fuller said no one had been taken into custody as of Monday morning.
