Funeral services for Randy Leo Slate, 54, of Odessa, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Barnum officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations.

  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home.

  Mr. Slate passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in Odessa, surrounded by loved ones.

  Randy Leo Slate was born on Jan. 29, 1960, in Odessa Texas to William Leo Slate and Bessie Dee (Roberts) Slate. He had worked as a Well Service Operator in the oil and gas industry for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time, but what he cared for most was his family. Spending time doing things with his family is what made him happy. He was a good brother, uncle, father and grandparent and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.


He leaves behind, a daughter, Holly Hatten and husband Randy of Odessa; two sons, Christopher Slate and Shawn Slate, both of Odessa; his brother, Gary Slate of Hobbs N.M.; three sisters, Karen Melton, Hannah Hestilow and husband Wayne and Deena Baker and husband Bill, all of Mineral Wells. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren; Gabriel, Nathan, Madisen, Maryah, and Kyler Hatten; Kaliegh, Tyla, Kaiden, Ahrianna, and Kailani Slate; and Zachary, Braedon and Kaeson Slate.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bessie Slate and one grandson William James Slate.
