LIBERTY HILL In a rematch of District 8-3A co-champions from a year ago, the No. 12 Brownwood Lady Lions proved to be no match for the No. 5 Liberty Hill Lady Panthers, who remained unbeaten with a 63-34 victory Friday.

Brownwood (11-5) struggled all game offensively as the Lady Lions reached double figures in points in only one quarter the fourth. Liberty Hill (17-0) jumped out to a 20-9 after one quarter, which grew to 35-15 at halftime and 50-19 through three periods.

Trejouir Wilson finished with 19 points for the Lady Lions followed by six from Unique Jefferson, three from Kodi Ribble and two points apiece from Kylie Ellis, Mikaela Smith and Sarah Fox.

The Lady Lions are off until Monday, Dec. 29 when they take part in the Lubbock Caprock tournament.


EARLY The Early Longhorns notched their third victory of the season, upending Class A No. 9 Eula by a 71-62 count Friday.

Early (3-6) raced out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter and was in front 45-22 at halftime. Eula crept within 61-43 after three quarters, but the Longhorns maintained a comfortable cushion throughout the final eight minutes.

Leland Harris poured in 30 points for the Longhorns followed by Abel Hernandez with 17, Riley Mitchell with 14, Griffin Ehlers with four and Colt Palmer, Joel Justice and Drew Sessler with two points apiece.

Early will return to action at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29 as they open play in the May tournament against Zephyr.


BLANKET The May Tigers picked up their first victory of the season in just their second game as they rallied past the Blanket Tigers, 37-35, Friday.

Blanket led 9-7 after one quarter, but May grabbed a 16-12 halftime edge. Blanket then reclaimed a 23-22 lead heading into the fourth period.

May received 15 points from Eli Williams, 11 from Rocky Gage, four each from Aaron Sadler and A.J. Martin, two from Joshua McFarland one point from Isaac Williams.

For Blanket, Blake Hood finished with 16 points trailed by Aaron Martinez with 10, Toby Florence with six, Luke Kinkade with two and Quinton Alvarez with one point.


BLANKET The May Lady Tigers improved to 7-5 on the season with a lopsided 47-19 victory over the Blanket Lady Tigers Friday.

May led 15-2 after one quarter, 22-13 at halftime and 35-13 heading to the fourth period.

Amber Holster finished with a team-high 15 points for May trailed by Julia Robinette with six, Sarah Mote, Kelsie Gage and Shylee Jenkins with five points apiece, Taylor Cox with four and Skylar Jenkins with three points.

Briana Wilson led Blanket with seven points trailed by four each from Kanya Johnson and DeAnna Graham and two points from Hope Heard.
