The Brownwood Lions dropped a tough game against the Brady Bulldogs Friday night in an overtime thriller.
The Bulldogs defeated the Lions 85-82 in a physical game that saw more than 60 fouls called over the 36 total minutes played.
The Lions led by ten points during one stretch in the third quarter, but couldn't hold it, as the Bulldogs would not be denied as they took advantage of several key possessions late in the game.
"The guys really fought hard tonight ," said Brownwood head basketball coach Grant Freeman. "We got the ball in the paint and got to the free throw line well, it just didn't go our way."
Even after giving up 85 points over four quarters and an overtime period, Freeman also spoke on the improvement on the defensive side of the ball.
"I thought we played good team defense tonight, even though 85 points given up doesn't show it," he said. "We made them take the shots we wanted them to and they ended up getting some easy tips and baskets which is tough. I was very pleased with the effort tonight on both offense and defense."
Offensively on the night junior Cory Richardson had a big night putting up 27 points and grabbing two rebounds. Junior Hayden Day recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The loss dropped Brownwood's record to 2-13 on the season.
The Lions will travel to Llano on Tuesday, January 6.
