Zelda L. Donley was born Aug. 6, 1931 to William and Thelma Drury in the great state of Oklahoma (Olustee, Okla.), she was reared in the great state of Texas along with her siblings Billy, Lonnie, Don, Sue and Ralph, who have paved the way for Zelda to enter on Dec. 17, 2014 into what she believed through her heart and soul The Promise Land.
She was preceded in death by Raymond Donley Jr., whom she was married to from 1948 to 1972, and stayed in contact with until his passing in September 2014; and Levi Duncan, who she married on her birthday in 1994 and was by his side until he passed away in September 2004.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Donley, Raymond Donley III, Dennis Donley and Billy Donley; grandchildren, Dru Cregar, Patrick Donley and Iris Donley; and great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Jacob.
Zelda loved and was proud of all.
She enjoyed helping people and worked as a bookkeeper at local pharmacies and went on to form her own medical mail order supply company.
A Service Celebrating the Life of Zelda will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 301 South First Street in Bangs, with the Rev. Michael Redmond officiating.
In continuation of Zelda’s giving nature, she is participating in the “Willed Body Program” at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston (http://nba.uth.tmc.edu/willedbody/forms.htm) in an effort to help educate the next generation of doctors and their patients.
Donations can be made in Zelda’s name to the First United Methodist Church, 301 South First Street in Bangs / Willed Body Program / or any health research institutions.
