KENNEDALE — The Brownwood Lady Lions opened their second season under head coach Keith Robinson against what he considered “one of the top teams in this region, if not the top team, and one of the best in the state.”
The Lady Lions were dealt a 6-0 loss by host Kennedale to start the Kennedale tournament Thursday afternoon. Weather permitting, the Lady Lions (0-1) will return to Kennedale Friday to battle Decatur at 2:45 p.m.
As for the loss to Kennedale, Robinson said, “It was very enlightening, that’s for sure. They’re very organized, very structured and very talented. They played extremely well.
“Not taking anything away from Kennedale, but the we did them a favor the first 10 to 15 minutes by giving up a lot of space and we had a couple of dropped balls in the box that led to goals. We showed up physically, but emotionally, spiritually and mentally, we just weren’t there. We came out extremely flat and they took advantage of it.”
