CISCO — With two games remaining before the start of District 6-4A action, the Brownwood Lions took a major step forward with a 43-36 road victory over Cisco Friday night.
The Lions (3-14) halted a season-worst eight-game slump with the victory, and are targeting their first win streak of the season as they visit Clyde at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the pre-district finale.
“I thought our kids played great tonight,” said Lions first-year head coach Grant Freeman. “It was a total team effort and we finished strong. I’m so proud of them. We’re playing our best ball right now.”
Down 7-6 after one quarter, Brownwood opened a 21-15 halftime lead, but Cisco rallied and regained a 31-29 edge after three periods. The Lions yielded just five points during the fourth quarter while burying five field goals and four free throws.
Cory Richardson paced the attack with 18 points for the Lions followed by Tyler Jackson with seven, McLane Moore with six, Crystan Wright with four, Cody Richardson and Corleone Pressley with three each and Rosavelt Duffie with two.
