TROPHY CLUB — The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions made their track and field debuts for the 2015 season Thursday at the Bobcat Relays, hosted by Byron Nelson High School.
In varsity boys action, Lion Hayden Day finished first in the discus with a best effort of 131-8. Also competing individually, McLane Moore was sixth in the pole vault, clearing 11-6, while Harley Price came in 15th in the shot put with a best of 39-5.5.
On the varsity girls side, the 1600 sprint medley team of Jaycee Lenz, Ebonie Adams, Lexie Lewis and Jessica Romero earned a silver medal with a second-place time of 4:39.83.
The Lady Lions also came in fourth in the distance medley, as Payton Kallman, Lenz, Kyra Young and Romero combined for a 13:57.93, while a fifth-place effort was turned in by the two-mile relay foursome of Kallman, Esmeralda Hernandez, Young and Romero, who were clocked at 11:13.33
Also, the mile relay team of Kallman, Lenz, Adams and Lewis placed 13th with a time of 4:43.4
In boys relay competition, the Lions 1600 sprint medley team of Price, Chevy Robertson, Ben Berger and Connor Howard was fourth with a time of 3:55.78.
The sprint relay team of Robertson, Howard, Rylee Gregory and Price was timed at 46.63, which placed them 16th, while the distance medley team of Reid Longabaugh, Xavier Armenta, Berger and Hugo Yebra was 17th with an effort of 12:48.77.
The Lions and Lady Lions are slated to compete in the Breckenridge Buckaroo Relays on Friday.
