BROCK — Runs were scored in every half-inning, but the Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to overtake Celina, falling in an 11-10 shootout Saturday in their final game of the Brock softball tournament.
After one inning, the Lady Lions (4-2) trailed 3-2 and were down 8-6 after two frames, but drew even at 9-all after three innings in the four-inning contest.
Both Brownwood and Celina finished with 11 hits and each team committed one error.
Ashley Gomez sparked the Lady Lions with a 3-for-4 performance that included a home run, double, four RBIs and four runs scored. Ashley Jones went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, while Rose Zamarripa chipped in two hits as well.
Alexis Larrea and Kayla McFarden contributed one hit and one RBI apiece, while Emily Perez drove in a run. Victoria Sanchez also collected a hit.
In the circle for the Lady Lions, Perez worked 3.2 innings, yielding 11 runs — six earned — on 11 hits, including a pair of home runs, with one strikeout and one walk.
The Lady Lions will visit Comanche at 4 p.m. Tuesday, then play five more games in the Abilene tournament Thursday through Saturday.
