EARLY — City council members in Early have a lengthy agenda for their Tuesday night meeting, with items including the possible issuance of $8.36 million in Certificates of Obligation to fund the construction of a waste water treatment plant.
The council meets at 6 p.m.
The city earlier received approval for a loan in that amount from the Texas Water Development Board to built the facility.
Construction is expected to last about a year.
Currently, Early pays Brownwood $324,000 a year to treat its waste water.
After construction is complete, the operating cost will be $35,000 a year, and the facility will save the city $2.5 million over the life of the 30-year loan, then-City Administrator Ken Thomas said in September.
Other agenda items include:
• Consider approving the final plat of a single-family residential development, Bluebonnet Acres, on Bluebonnet Drive, and consider approving a zoning change for 14 lots on Bluebonnet Drive.
• Consider ratifying Early Economic Development Corp. action to grant a $12,000 funding request to Weakley Watson Sporting Goods for site and related improvements.
• Consider approving the sale of a half-acre lot at Industrial Park for $9,500 for business development.
