Cody Williams, one of three suspects in the New Year’s Eve robbery of Big G Grocery in Early, has been transferred from custody in Bastrop County to the Brown County Jail.
Williams, 19, who was indicted earlier for aggravated robbery, remained Wednesday n the Brown County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond, jail records state.
A sheriff’s office transport deputy brought Williams to Brown County Tuesday, sheriff’s officials said. It was not immediately clear why the other adult suspect in the robbery, Jackie Scott, 20, was not brought back from Bastrop County along with Williams. Scott has also been indicted for aggravated robbery.
A third suspect, Antonio Vega, 15, was recently certified to stand trial as an adult and had been housed in the Brown County Jail. Vega was transferred last week to a juvenile facility in Kerrville, sheriff’s officials said.
In an unrelated case, a Brownwood man who was free on bond from an October drug arrest was back in jail Wednesday.
Sheriff’s narcotics detective Carlyle Gover arrested Shawn Hickey, 31, on charges of possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, jail records state.
According to Gover’s report:
Gover received information Tuesday that Hickey might have drugs. Gover knows Hickey by sight and also knows Hickey does not have a valid driver’s license. Gover saw Hickey driving a car into the Villa Apartments parking lot on U.S. Highway 377 South. Hickey parked and hurriedly got out of his car. Gover got out of his car and told Hickey to get back in his car.
Hickey refused, saying he was on private property. Hickey refused Gover’s commands to place his hands behind his back, and resisted Gover’s efforts to handcuff him, Gover’s report alleged. Gover took Hickey to the ground and handcuffed him after a brief struggle.
Sheriff’s Sgt. James Stroope arrived with his K-9 partner, Buster, and the dog alerted on Hickey’s car, Gover’s report states. Deputies searched the car and located a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamine.
In October, Brownwood police arrested Hickey and a woman after an undercover officer made a buy, police said earlier.
In another unrelated incident, deputy Joe Thomas arrested a Brownwood man late Tuesday night for allegedly driving while intoxicated with his 3-year-old son in his vehicle.

Thomas was dispatched to the EZ Mart on North Highway 279 on a report that a man was sleeping in a Jeep Laredo that was parked at the gas pumps. Thomas saw a man slouched over the center console.
Thomas woke up the man, who had a hand-rolled cigarette in his mouth. Thomas smelled marijuana and learned the cigarette contained marijuana. The man’s 3-year-old son was sleeping in the back seat. Thomas arrested Valdez after conducting a field sobriety test.
