George F. Vaughn Jr. rejoiced to enter the presence of Jesus on July 12, 2015 at the age of 91.
He was born on April 16, 1924 in East St. Louis, Ill. to George F. and Vera Mae Vaughn. He married Laura Mae Crouell in Uvalde on June 16, 1943.
George is survived by daughters, Connie Danley and husband Bob of Corinth, and Vicki Vaughn of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Melody Pickle and husband Drew of Cypress Mill, Ron Danley of Arlington, and Austin Bynum of Brownwood; three great-grandchildren, Megan Bynum, Skylar Rae Bynum, and Asa Vaughn Pickle; one sister, Freida Davis of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Jerry Harrell of Fredericksburg, and Bo Allen and husband Sam of Rio Frio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 67 years, Laurie Vaughn; his brother, Donald G. Vaughn; and his sister, Shirley Chambers.
A graveside service was held Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Rio Frio, where “Brother George” pastored Jesus’ Church at Rio Frio for over 25 years.
