I'm so excited! Our annual Spay-ghetti dinner is less than a week away, on Thursday. To everyone who has supported the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center (CTSAC) through this event, we say thank you. To everyone who hasn't, I invite you to come eat with us.

There are a number of good reasons to come to the Spay-ghetti dinner. First, the food is always delicious. The sauces are furnished by area restaurants and caterers. We will be getting sauces prepared and donated by AJ's Red Wagon, Buffalo Wild Wings, Brownwood Country Club, Humphrey Pete's, Lemon's Barbeque, Prima Pasta, Sodexo Dining Services, Steves' Market, Studebaker's Cafe, Sweet Life Treats, Texas 4-H Center and The Hideout. Section Hand is helping with salads, and United Supermarket is furnishing hot garlic bread. For only $10, you get a full plate of pasta with delicious sauce, salad, and garlic bread. For only $1 extra, you can purchase something sweet for dessert, prepared by Underwood's Cafeteria, The Sticks BBQ, or Sweet Life Treats.

The second good reason to come to Spay-ghetti Dinner is that it supports one of CTSAC's most important programs: Spay/neuter of owned dogs and cats. Thanks to our sponsors, 100 percent of the money from ticket sales goes directly to our spay/neuter program. This year's sponsors are Ace's Full Signs, Academy Lanes, Brown County Animal Clinic, Brownwood Decorating, Brownwood Janitorial, Cadenhead Veterinary Clinic, Cornerstone Pet Hospital, Eagle Liquor, Guitar Veterinary Services, PetSense, Runaway Train Cafe, Small Animal Medical Center, Dr. and Mrs. Allan Cass, Diamond R Store & Cafe, Joyce Harrison, Live Oak Pharmacy, Roberson Rent-All, The Bike Peddler, Weakley Watson, Royalcaper Cavaliers, the City of Brownwood, Depot Liquor and Dr. Pepper Company. When you shop at these businesses, make sure you say thanks for their willingness to help address our huge problem of pet overpopulation and homelessness.

For everyone who wants our shelter to become no-kill-for-time-or-space, this is a very easy way to help. Getting all of our community pets fixed is one of the most important facets of the solution to our endless euthanasia of adoptable animals. We all need to stop allowing our pets to have babies that may well end up in the shelter, and despite our best efforts, not come out alive. Help us change that.

The third good reason to come to Spay-ghetti is that Debra Mathis, who played piano for us last year, will be back again. She is very talented, and her music is a pleasure to listen to while having a delicious meal in good company.

Spay-ghetti tickets are only $10, and are for sale at CTSAC, KOXE, Steves' Market, and Small Animal Medical Center. Buy a ticket for yourself, or buy 10 as little bonuses for your staff or co-workers.
