Jenna Lyons selected 6-4A Offensive Player of the Year

The coaches of 6-4A recently revealed the all-district volleyball selections, and seven Brownwood Lady Lions made the cut.

Leading the way was sophomore Jenna Lyons, who selected the 6-4A Offensive Player of the Year — one of six superlative honors distributed by the district.

First-team selections for the Lady Lions included junior libero Kayla McFarden and senior outside hitter Kristen Fuentes. Landing on the second team were junior Bailey Randle and sophomore Mikaela Smith, both middle blockers. Receiving honorable mention were senior outside hitter Payton Kallman and senior defensive specialist Kristi Ward.

Stephenville senior Kourtney Seaton was selected the 6-4A Most Valuable Player, Abilene Wylie senior Madi Garcia was named Defensive Player of the Year, Stephenville junior Kylee Ponder was tabbed Newcomer of the Year, Wylie junior Peyton Cunningham was chosen Setter of the Year and Stephenville’s Fran Metzger received Coach of the Year honors.

Rounding out the first-team picks were Stephenville’s Chelsea Gillespie, Kerstin Frederickson and Kaleigh Conger; Graham’s Lexie Allen, Nicole King and Jasmine Sims; and Wylie’s Dani Nasser and Leigha Puckett.

The remainder of the second team included Wylie’s Ever Hayes, Kassidy Munton and Hailey Luckie; Graham’s Savannah Wilson, Izzie Mayberry and Marleigh Sanders; Stephenville’s Mikayla Hobbs and Nicona Stilwell; and Mineral Wells’ Ashley Valdez.

Also receiving honorable mention were Mineral Wells’ Erin McGuire, Ali Blissitte and Megan Hamric; Wylie’s Bailey Ann Toliver and Brooke Sherman; Graham’s Veronica Breitkreutz and Emily Davis; Stephenville’s Taylor Garber and Emily Brandon.

The Lady Lions finished the season with a 20-20 overall, their best in three seasons under head coach Lorrie Beelby, and reached the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Brownwood finished fourth in the final 6-4A standings.
