Basketball teams from the National Junior College Athletic Association will converge this weekend for the Region 5 Shootout at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Five men’s games will be played Sunday and two women’s games Monday. The Shootout is being hosted by Ranger College. The coliseum, for the second straight year, will also be the site of the NJCAA Region 5 basketball tournament in March.
The North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference will be represented by: Hill College; McLennan Community College; New Mexico Junior College; Ranger College (men’s and women’s); Temple College; Weatherford College (men’s and women’s).
The Western Junior College Association will include the following teams: Howard College; (men’s and women’s) Midland College; Odessa College (men’s and women’s) New Mexico Junior College; Western Texas College.
On the men’s side, Midland College (13-2) owns the best overall record in the WJCAC; Hill College and McLennan Community College of the NTJCAC each boast a 13-1 record.
Of the four women’s teams competing Monday, Howard College (11-4) and Odessa College (10-3) sit near the top of the WJCAC, while Ranger College (5-3) and Weatherford College (2-9) will look to improve their respective records.

6 p.m. – Ranger College vs. Howard College
